I need a medical audit about tonsillectomy.
the guidlines recommend that patients undergoing tonsillectomy surgery should be admitted overnight only they meet certain criteria. our department has been admitting all patients overnight and not following the recommended guidelines in fear of tonsillectomy bleeding . The numbers in our department ( 214 patients underwent tonsillectomy from april – sep 22 , 36 patients had tonsillectomy bleed in 2 weeks ; none of the bleeds happened in the first 24 hours ) show that all bleeding happened in 2 weeks rather than the first 24 hours . Therefore, the audit should recommend to change the policy of admission
