You will write a brief, two-page paper about what you learned in your experiences at your agency. This final internship reflection will chronicle your experience and address what impact the practicum has had on your learning. In this writing, summarize what agency you worked with and the population served. What were your responsibilities and describe your supervision experience. In your paper summarize some of that learning, particularly in areas of personal efficacy, social efficacy, and vocational discernment. What advice would you have for future NSU practicum students in regard to this specific practicum? What courses (if any) are most important in helping students succeed in practicum? Written work will be evaluated on clarity, spelling, sentence structure and neatness. Papers must be double spaced, spell-checked, proofread and submitted in APA format. Late paper and email submission will not be accepted.
To earn full credit all questions must be answered and all directions of the assignment followed.
My internship/practicum was at the LGBT life center, working with the lgbtq community as well as low income individuals. Some of my responsibilities were transcribing notes from the counselor (my supervisor), updating client records, assisting in scheduling appointments, and occasionally sitting in on group therapy sessions to observe and take note. Also, to answer one of the questions above (What courses (if any) are most important in helping students succeed in practicum?) I personally believe all psychology courses are crucial in helping someone succeed in a practicum.
