Parts of your Case Study Summary
a. Briefly describe the family background and home environment of the child
b. What stage of development is your chosen child in?
c. Physical Growth and Motor Development
Describe the childâs physical appearance; and describe the motor development of the child (including gross and fine motor milestone, see charts in text); and list specific skills you observed with examples relevant to the childâs stage of development (e.g., drawing, etc.) Summarize how your chosen child is or is not meeting the physical developmental milestone of the relevant stage.
d. Cognitive Development
What Piagetian stage is your child in? Interact with your chosen child with different activities and questions and describe at least 2 specific examples of Piagetian cognitive characteristics that your child did or did not display. Give reasons that may make it more difficult for your child to be successful in the specific Piagetian stage (truancy, home environment, etc.)
Summarize how your chosen child is or is not meeting the cognitive developmental milestones of the relevant Piagetian stage and why.
e. Social-Emotional Development
What Erikson stage is your child in? Interact with your chosen child with different activities and questions and describe at least 2 specific examples that show if your child is progressing toward a positive or negative resolution in Eriksonâs stage. Give reasons that may make it more difficult for your child to be successful in the specific Erikson stage (e.g., child maltreatment, etc.). Summarize how your chosen child is or is not progressing toward a positive or negative resolution of the relevant Piagetian stage and why.
f. Summarize what you believe your chosen child needs to be successful academically and in life. Use at least three non-theoretical concepts.
