Hello all, my name is Audrey Perovich!
I graduated from SMU this past December with my BBA and am currently at Collin College to get my CNA (nurse aide) license. I am interested in business management/consulting and also in the medical field, and am using this time to explore the latter. I am taking a few classes other than my nursing ones, and knew that psychology would be applicable to me working as a nursing assistant.
In my free time, I enjoy reading, running, and art. Some of my favorite authors would have to be Charles Dickens, J.R.R. Tolkien, C.S. Lewis, G.K. Chesterton, A.W. Tozer, Bonhoeffer, and Jim Elliot. I got my minor in studio art with a focus in ceramics at SMU and love to make functional work, such as vases and bowls. Landscape painting is my favorite to produce and to see in museums. I have travelled to Europe and have seen some beautiful art while there that has really inspired my love of painting. If I could travel anywhere in the world, it might have to be the Middle East, perhaps Israel or the surrounding region. I am a Christian and would love the chance to explore the birthplace of Christianity and see some of the cities and locations that I have read about.
I am interested in learning about the reasons for behaviors in people, especially in the patients that I will encounter. In particular, I would be curious to study how a person’s illness/mental state would impact the rationality of certain behaviors and whether changes in atmosphere or in my personal behavior with patients would be able to influence that. I would also be interested in clinical psychology topics and in learning how to best interact with patients who have mental distress related to their illness. It would be helpful to study how emotions/perceptions/personality relate the developmental process of children, and when to expect (or be worried abouluvt) certain behaviors in pediatrics.
