Week 4: Discussion-Stakeholder Response to Supreme Court’s ruling on abortion
In this week’s readings, abortion rights is one of the main topics. as dictated by the DOBBS, v. JACKSON WOMEN’S HEALTH ORGANIZATION ET AL which reversed Roe v. Wade on Friday, declaring that the constitutional right to abortion, no longer exists. Stakeholder groups which have a special interest in this decision include women’s groups, professional organizations, religious organizations, and state governments. Listings of such groups representing both sides of the issue have been included in this week’s materials for you reference. For this discussion select two stakeholders you feel are particularly relevant. In two paragraphs provide a brief summary of their position on abortion, current advocacy activities and how they plan to respond to the Supreme Court’s ruling, e.g., what steps do they plan to take to influence state and/or federal policymakers.
