Spend time with a school nurse or someone in charge of a community center. Centers can include (but are not limited to) homeless shelters, daycare, or senior centers.
Using surveillance data and health information from facility staff, identify the infectious diseases with the highest incidence rates. If students cannot get this information from the facility itself, students may identify incident rates within some other general similar population.
Are these infectious diseases distributed equally within the setting or are there groups who are more at risk?
What steps are being taken to control or prevent these infections and address any related health disparities?
Does the facility have specific infection control policies and do the staff members appear to be following them?
