To continue research on your country, this week we will be focusing on culture. You can explore a variety of different cultural aspects as long as they relate back to health. This may include dancing, food, gender norms, religion, family structure, or growth and development. Use your readings primarily, and research through Excelsior Library as appropriate, to support your research.
Your paper should be 2-3 pages (double spaced) in length not including pictures, graphs, or tables. If there are health campaigns that are particularly relevant to the subject matter, you may include a picture of those. You may also include visual representation of how culture and health come together. Please explain the significance of the photo or video if you decide to include one. Write out your responses in paragraphs, avoiding bulleted responses, and use APA for all references. Refer back to your readings for clarification of research topics below.

Traditional health beliefs and practices
You can approach this from various perspectives but be sure to include positive and negative health outcomes based on beliefs and practices.
Example: In India, families believe that if they do not have a son, no one will be able to care for them when they are elderly. This leads to neglect, malnutrition and overall poor health of girls in India.
What types of health providers are available
In Module 2 you wrote about health care providers from a system standpoint. For this assignment you will write more about traditional health care providers. There are some examples in your readings.
The impact of culture on daily life
Consider cultural norms such as gender roles, employment, where and how one lives, religion, race, etc. This list is not inclusive and you should consider all areas of culture and how it may impact health.
