The Mental Health Parity and Addiction Act of 2008 and the Affordable Care Act of 2010 have ensured that most healthcare providers in the U.S. offer screening, prevention, and interventions to patients suffering from substance use disorders (McLellan, 2017). The Addiction Severity Index (ASI) provided data on assessing treatment available to adult substance users. Additionally, ASI delivers data on the problems faced by substance users and the forms of care they are currently receiving either at home or within medical institutions (Wu et al., 2020). Although there are certain limitations in the ASI method, the data is reliable and valid(Wu et al., 2020). Secondly was the Maudsley Addiction Profile (MAP) assessment which was utilized to assess the outcome of treatment provision to addicts of substance usage. The MAP assessment majorly focused on those with alcohol addiction and provided clinically administered test-retest analysis methods (McLellan, 2017).
