Students will write a 4-page Review of Literature Paper, following the APA Sample Paper formatting tips and guidance. The paper will build on the References Worksheet and the Annotated Bibliography, and will use (cite, reference) the five (5) required professional journal articles from the library database (no regular internet searches). Students will use APA (7th ed.) formatting, including: 12-point font, one-inch margins, double spacing, complete citations, a clear reference page, and a student title page. Students will complete the Review of Literature Paper, which should include the following sections (use a heading for EVERY section except the Introduction): Title Page – Provide all of the required information and parts per APA (7th ed.). Use APA formatting for the “student title page;” author note and abstract are not needed for this paper. Introduction – Use a one-paragraph introduction that briefly details general information about your main topic, provides information about why the topic is important, and gives your thesis/claim/point that you will be supporting in this paper (per APA, do not use a heading, instead list the title of your paper above the intro paragraph in Level 1 heading format – center/bolded). Review of Literature – First, provide overview information on your chosen topic, including: history and background, demographics (ex/who and how many are impacted), general definitions and descriptions, statistics, strengths/ concerns/needs, interventions strategies, how it is related to social work, and other relevant information. Next, provide information of the reviewed literature on your chosen topic organized by subtopic or the main topic broken down into specific parts. This will be the bulk of the paper, and will demonstrate your understanding of your topic and how you used literature to inform that understanding. Be sure you are citing all borrowed information and ideas, also called paraphrased (in your own words) information. Please, do not use quoted passages for this assignment; practice only using paraphrased information (per APA, use a Level 1 heading format – center/bolded). Social Justice Considerations – Provide your thoughts about how this topic is connected to social justice issues in our society (perceptions, cultural issues, oppression, etc.) in one paragraph. Make sure you demonstrate first what social justice is, as well as what specifically makes your topic a social justice issue. Make connections between your paper’s chosen topics, social justice, and the NASW Code of Ethics. Be sure you are citing all borrowed information and ideas, also called paraphrased (in your own words) information. Conclusion – Include a one-paragraph conclusion that succinctly restates/ summarizes your topic and why it is important, what thesis or claim you made, generally explain why others should support your ideas, and briefly include future action or research possibilities (per APA, use a Level 1 heading format – center/bolded). References – Provide a list of all of the used references, including all of the required reference parts per APA (7th ed.). Use APA formatting throughout the reference page for the journal articles. Per APA, type References (center/bolded) at the top of the Reference Page. Ensure your references match the citations used within the worksheet (Ex/ The last names and date in the citation match what is provided in the reference).
