Students will need to critique the literature relating to cardiac rehabilitation in a specific patient group, critically appraise the elements of an effective cardiac rehabilitation programme and elaborate on strategies that improve adherence with cardiac rehabilitation and long-term maintenance of behavior change. In population groups where evidence is limited, such as athletes and young patients with cardiac disease, students are encouraged to devise rehabilitation strategies by extrapolating best evidence base from existing cohorts, propose suitable adjustments and identify future research to fill the knowledge gap.
