Many men worry about the size of their penis, and this can affect their self-confidence and self-image.  Also, sex goes far beyond the size of the penis, but there are too many social pressures and an idealized image of the size of the penis because the pornographic industry and the media, provide a distorted view of what is normal. On the other hand, men are less concerned with their external image is so important but the size of the penis usually affects psychologically on occasion it can be very harmful.  Even so, myths about what factors determine penis size often lead to unnecessary stress and anxiety in people of all gender and ages, like they said shoe size height and masturbation. Penis size is mostly a result of genetic influences. the penis grows throughout puberty and sometimes for a few years after. The penis will stop growing around the ages of 18 or 19. Moreover, testosterone influences penis growth during puberty, also the average penis size in research on 15,521 people from around the world reports that the average penis length is; 9.16 centimeters(cm), or 3.61 inches(“), when flaccid. 13.12cm, or 5.16″, when erect. the average girth or circumference is 9.31cm, or 3.67”, when flaccid, 11.66cm, or 4.59, when erect.  also, this study shows most males who believe they have a short penis overestimate the average penis length.
If the client l would tell him to go to the doctor specialized in sexology to be able to treat their anxiety and discomfort about the size of his penis. Also, sex education, support from a partner, and appropriate treatments help people with small penis syndrome and those with BDD manage their anxiety.

I would advise clients that penis size shouldn’t matter, even though they are taught that it does. As early as the age of 10, young men question the normality of their penis size. Boys make jokes and taunt one another about their penis size; I can remember us calling each other horrible names like “needle dick, the bug fucker” which led me to believe that having a small penis would be a bad thing. This induces phallocentrism among young men, where they begin to belive that their penis is the center of their identity. Curiosity may lead them to compare their genitals among their male peers or examine sexually explicit magazines, pornography, or websites to better understand “normal” penis size. But the media does a poor job in educating boys, and men for that matter, where they develop a false impression of average penis size. Like most media productions, sex sells, so pornography sells images of well-endowed men, giving onlookers an unrealistic expectation of penis size. In “Human Sexuality: Diversity in Contemporary Society (11th ed.),” the authors explain that “in an unaroused state, the average penis is slightly under three inches long…the mean erect penis length is about 5.5 inches, while the mean erect penis circumference is 4.8 inches (Yarber). Having a false image of average penis size can cause men to develop penis envy, which is to say, a man who wishes to have a larger penis. In the news article  Penis Size Envy Is Killing Your Sex Life, columnist David Artavia explains the results of research that surveyed over 4,000 men, finding that “27 percent of the men were unhappy with how their penises looked flaccid, and 19 percent of men were unhappy with how their penises looked erect. A full 14 percent said they weren’t satisfied with their penises overall” (Artavia). Having feelings of dissatisfaction with your penis size can lead to feelings of inadequacy. Men typically better understand the desirability of their penis size via their sex partner(s), who can increase or decrease a man’s penis confidence; a sense of happiness with one’s penis. Having a large penis does not guarantee better sexual encounters. Some women complain about the difficulties of engaging in sex with a well-endowed partner. Women also learn about male penis size by viewing pornography or from their sexual encounters with well-endowed partners, setting unreasonable expectations that all men should have similarly large penises. The pressure on men to present a larger than “normal” penis that their partner desires suggest that penis size does matter. Not in the sense that a larger penis leads to more pleasurable sex, but because having a large penis is expected, which may increase the number of sexual encounters. I would tell clients that size shouldn’t matter matter to them. I would advise them to find a partner that is satisfied with thier penis. Citations/References
