SAFE 5001: Research Project
**** My topic is on Arthropathies.
The project is worth 250 points. You are required to do a comprehensive literature research that must cover and discuss all five of these areas. Deficiency in any area will result in up to 20% points deduction each area:
1) The anatomical location (shown in an anatomical diagram); What tissues (e.g., muscle, nerve, tendon, etc.) being affected and pathphysiology (what & how deteriorated); The typical symptoms (e.g., painâ¦).
2) What industries and/or occupations are affected the most by the MSD you discuss; The primary ergonomic risk factors (you need do JHA: e.g., force, awkward position, repetitiveâ¦); Other
important contributing factors such as non-job related (age, gender â¦).
3) What is the prevalence rate of the MSD?
4) What are the costs to the affected employees and employers (e.g., diagnosis & treatment, work compensation, days away from work, job replacement & turnover rate, degree of pain â¦);
5) What control(s) can be used to prevent the exposure and/or mitigate symptoms (e.g., stretch protocol, PtD, medical treatment â¦), and the effectiveness of each control method. You need to provide published research data to support the effectiveness: controls with no data supported are unacceptable!
Write your research paper about the key finding of your research; Only creditable references (e.g., from peer-reviewed journal articles, government websites (e.g., NIOSH, OSHAâ¦), and professional organization websites (e.g., AIHA, ACGIH,
ASSPâ¦) are accepted and APA citation format should be used. Undergraduate students (SAFE 5001) need 1500-2500 words and a minimum of 10 creditable references cited; Word count excludes references and title page; word count need to be included in title page.
