Final Research Project: The Use and Efficacy of a Selected CIT in Clinical Practice
The purpose of this Research Project is to take a deep dive into a selected CIT for application in clinical practice.
Individuals in the U.S. spend more than 43 billion dollars per year on complementary therapies. The use of these modalities is often unknown to health care providers who treat and care for patients. In this assignment you will select a CIT that is of special interest in your practice, setting or to a particular patient or group of patients. You will conduct a review of the literature on the CIT in relation to the problem/condition or self-care issue. The required elements are:
• Compelling abstract
• Introduction, including the origins of the CIT
• the theory or belief of how the CIT works on body, mind, and spirit
• the evidence basis of the CIT, including specific conditions for which there may be benefits
• the knowledge and skills base necessary to apply the CIT
• conclusion recapping the main ideas and describing the potential application to your setting
Final Research Project Guidelines:
1. The assignment is to consist of 7+ pages of quality content information, not including the abstract page, references, figures, and charts. 2. References should be cited from refereed journals, primarily, and from scholarly texts on the subject. Research websites are also acceptable for citation purposes (Wikipedia, product manufacturers, etc. are not an acceptable websites). 3. APA/mechanics: Grammar/Spelling/APA are correct. The paper is well organized (flows), comprehensible, and conveys core concepts with clarity and brevity. The required elements of the presentation (described within this rubric) should be clearly delineated using primary and secondary headings. Avoids direct quotes and paraphrases instead. At least 10 peer-reviewed references are used to support the presentation. 15
