Presentation Information
For this assignment, you will choose an infectious disease to investigate and create a presentation about this disease. You will either be given a list of diseases to choose from by your instructor or you will be allowed to research a disease of your choosing (your instructor will let you know). Please note that you are presenting this project in the form of a video.
Topics you must include in your presentation
Introduction & Etiology: Give clear introduction: State topic, describe the etiology of the disease (including correctly naming organism), give background/history of disease/organism
Characteristics of Causative Organism: Describe the structure, Gram stain type (if applicable), virulence factors of organism, and pathogenesis, and specific information as to resistance to drugs if applicable
Characteristics of Disease: Describe the signs & symptoms, how it is diagnosed, mode of transmission, epidemiological info., co-morbidities (if any), treatment/prevention methods, prognosis.
Social, Psychological, Economic Impacts: Describe societal viewpoints about the disease, psychological issues surrounding the disease and/or vaccination/treatment of the disease. Discuss the economic impact of epidemics, and or vaccination programs for individuals, communities, countries and the globe. You can also include stories of interest about this disease.
