Male and female students encounter many major problems in the classroom. Because of âsocietally based stereotypesâ, which places gender roles on students, some of these problems will continue to be present for generation (Kauchak, Eggen, 2014). Research suggested that because males and females brains are wired differently for learning and for that reason, girls do better in school at the earlier stages than boys. Gender inequality between students when they become adults, causes girls to shy away from courses in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math (STEM), and places them in gender specific roles with are assigned at birth.
Because of gender bias, studentsâ growth and academic potentials are often limited. Girls fall behind boys academically by the time they reach college and is outnumbered in male-dominated majors like math, engineering, and science, but their graduation rate from college is much higher. Though boys are more academically advance in their later years, they are often help back a grade and are labeled âspecial needsâ more often. Boys score lower than girls in reading and writing, drop out of school at a higher rate and receives disciplinary actions more frequently. With gender-stereotypic views, students are often discouraged from taking part in courses or careers that are dominated by a particular sex.
Because of society and stereotypical behaviors from birth, understanding the problems that student faces in the classroom would be something that I will have to work hard to change. Gender roles is something that plays out in every aspect of our life and now that I know the effects it has on students, it will be something that I would like to change in my classroom. I have always believed that anything a man can do, a women can also and possible better, so I would be encouraging my students to go for whatever it is they want to do, no matter who says they canât.
Three things that I can do in the classroom that will help both genders succeed are:
1.  Encourage equal participation in classroom activities-Everyone is smart, and in an inclusive classroom, students will realize that their brain functions are no different than the opposite sex.
2.  Encourage student to consider nontraditional careers- Direct girls towards STEM and boys towards education/nursing/ or even being a beautician, if that what they want to do.
3.  Have a parental involved classroom-Having parents involve, especially mothers, we are opening a way to do away with ideas of gender roles/biases/stereotypes and open doors to where every student is open minded to something new and eager to learn what they really want to learn

Males and females face numerous problems in the classroom. Different students have different understanding abilities. Some students understand some things faster than the rest, while others take a little longer. All these students are usually in the same classroom, and therefore this may pose a challenge to students who take a longer time to understand. The understanding may also vary due to culture and attitude. Students, therefore, require different help depending on the student to reach their full potential. Students’ diverse cultural background also influences how students act and believe in the classroom. The cultural background also affects how various students communicate. Students also face the problem of language. Schools require that students use English as their form of communication; however, different students have various first languages, making it difficult to ensure effective communication (Kauchak & Eggen, 2021).
Understanding the various problems that males and females face in the classroom would ensure that I prepare adequately to help the students. Understanding that students have varied understanding abilities would be crucial in ensuring that I am patient with the students who take a long time to understand and be prepared to give the help they require. It would move the whole class into success without leaving some students in a state of confusion. Communication is critical in the classroom to ensure that students understand what is taught. Proper communication will ensure that students express themselves and address their problems effectively. Knowing that we have different communication would help prepare to help students that cannot raise their issues effectively. Understanding that English is not the first language for everyone in the classroom would help prepare to talk and listen to students who might find English difficult. To ensure that both genders succeed in my classroom, I would ask fair questions, be reflective and objective, and promote effective communication.
