Thus, patients receive a good prognosis for survival and enhance their self-care skills substantially. Cooper and Hernandez (2016) indicate that team-based care facilitates the management of symptoms and HF-related comorbidities. Therefore, the DNP project could improve outcomes of HF patients and contribute to the facilitation of the provision of essential cardiac services. Shield et al. (2016) convey that cardiac rehabilitation is a complex process and should be conducted for at least three months. Drawing on this information, the project could reduce the burden experienced by nurses, cardiologists, and physicians by offering the framework for an effective redistribution of the roles and responsibilities within a multidisciplinary team.
The DNP project could lead to additional spending in terms of risks. The project requires building a team of professionals ready to engage in a comprehensive intervention. Thus, it may require increased expenditures needed for the group’s arrangement, the setting for the therapeutic intervention, and continuous monitoring of patients’ progress (Kamiya et al., 2020). Furthermore, there are risks associated with patient expectations and satisfaction. Although the project does not offer any invasive interventions and guarantees, the patients may have false expectations regarding the outcomes of the intervention.
Consequently, they may be dissatisfied with their quality of life and file a complaint. Despite the outlined risks, Cooper and Hernandez (2016) and Shield et al. (2016) provide reliable evidence that supports the cost-effectiveness and increased patient satisfaction with the multidisciplinary approach to HF. Moreover, these evidence-based sources indicate that the adequately constructed multidisciplinary approach could help positively change the delivery of cardiac care. Thus, the benefits of the DNP project significantly outweigh its potential risks.

The doctor of nursing practice (DNP) applies evidence into practice as a way to improve outcomes. The outcomes must be carefully evaluated or else applying the evidence can be weak. Ethical principles must be considered as they influence both the impact the evidence has on patients and the way the evidence is evaluated. Clinical research involves direct interaction with human subjects or material of human origin (Melnyk & Fineout-Overholt, 2019). In order for this to be carried out, there needs to be patient informed consent. If this does not happen, it is considered unethical. The risk-benefit ratio must be considered during the implementation of the DNP project. This takes into account the risk of an action compared to its potential benefits. The DNP must make sure the risk is not disproportionate to the benefits (Heinemann et al., 2020). Risk-benefit analysis is performed to determine their relation.
All potential research in healthcare will have risks and benefits. It is the duty of the DNP to consider the ethical principles prior to carrying out the research, as it is the goal to provide positive patient outcomes. For example, even the use of non-slip socks has risks and benefits. While some studies show wearing non-slip socks can decrease falls, others show it can increase the spread of infection (Jazayeri et al., 2021).

While the benefit of achieving better patient outcomes is the goal, if the risks outweigh the benefit, the evidence may be weak. As research is continuous, the risk benefit ratio is also ever changing. It is important to keep up with the most recent research, in order to maintain the benefits over the risks (Friedman et al., 2022).
