Task is:
“Based on Bob’s case, your task is to review the empirical evidence regarding the effectiveness of m-health (phone-based) interventions to determine the likelihood that Bob will quit smoking by using an m-health intervention.”
This is the given case study:
“Bob, 45 years, and a Wiradjuri main, lives in the NSW regional town of Bathurst. He started smoking cigarettes at the age of 18,and has smoked almost continuously since then. The only time he quit smoking was five years’ ago after his mum died of smoking-related lung cancer. Unfortunately, his quit attempt didn’t last long and after 6 months he started smoking again during a stressful time at work. Bob keeps fit by running mini marathons, and he’s currently training with his teenage son for the next big event late this year. Bob is very competitive with his running, but he knows that his smoking is impairing his running ability. For this reason, and to be a good role model for his son, he wants to quit smoking. He believes that this should be easy given that he has quit before. The local health centre recommended that Bob try a mobile phone-based intervention to help quit smoking.”
