Overview: For this first milestone, you will submit a publish of your case analysis in which you develop a proposal to complement the presentation that you
created in Module Four. In this initial component of your implementation plan, you will analyze the case scenario provided to uncover coding and
documentation that is inconsistent with compliance standards, AHIMA best practices, or both.
Prompt: Submit a paper that summarizes the compliance issues in the Healthy Health Center Case Study document and identifies solutions to these
issues. Be sure to map each proposed solution to each issue identified in the case. Also, identify policies that may need to be updated or implemented to
maintain compliance.
Specifically, the following critical elements must be addressed:
• Background: Describe the characteristics of the healthcare organization that will impact your recommendation. Be sure to consider the size of
the organization, its clientele, and the services offered.
• Issue Analysis: Assess the information provided within the case scenario for inaccuracies and gaps in compliance. How does the information you
identified suggest the need for policy or process revision?
• Patient Record Analysis: Assess the data provided within existing patient records for compliance issues that pose risks to the organization. In
other words, for elements in the data set that you identify as containing inaccuracies or gaps in compliance, explain how each poses a risk to the
organization.
• Root Cause: Determine the root cause of any inaccuracies or compliance gaps using the context provided within the case scenario.
• Agency: Determine the extent to which you have agency to effect positive change as a health information manager for each of the root causes
identified.
• Benchmarking: Distinguish how the coding performance of the organization compares with that of other organizations.
• Recommendations: Recommend benchmarks for the organization’s coding performance based on the coding trends and issues you identified in
the analysis
