For this assignment, you are the Clinical Audit lead for St. Anyone’s Chiropractic Practice. St. Anyone’s is a large chiropractic training practice with chiropractic assistants and junior qualified associates supervised by experienced partners.
At a recent clinical staff meeting it was decided to audit the care of osteoporosis patients in the clinic, as measured against the criteria of the newly published RCC Clinical Quality Standard for Osteoporosis. At the follow-up review meeting, it was clear from the data that several points need improvement. It was decided that for the 1st full cycle of the audit, the practice would concentrate on improving the screening, identification, and risk assessment of potentially osteoporotic patients.
As audit lead, it is your job to collate the data, design an action plan to address the deficiencies in performance based on the clinical priorities decided by the practice as a result of the 1st data collection, review and collate the data for the reaudit, and then write the complete report for this 1st audit cycle.

The full RCC CQS on Osteoporosis, which includes the relevant background, criteria, and standards to work with. You will need this document to describe the audit you are undertaking and give you some background.
A spreadsheet recording the initial data collection.
A summary of the findings of the data collection and an OUTLINE of the priorities identified by the practice to develop their action plan for the 2nd data collection in this first audit cycle.
Your task now is to:
Write an initial report, which should cover
Introduction – what is audit?, why do it?, what is the importance of osteoporosis screening and treatment, etc?
Aims & objectives of the audit.
Criteria & standards for the audit – given you are using a published clinical guideline, you can just reference the document but outline the focus of the criteria.
Methodology – although this is a mock dataset, you should write this from the perspective of having done it yourself.
Results & discussion of 1st Dataset – simply analyse the dataset against the criteria and standards of the Osteoporosis CQS document – where is the practice not reaching the required standard, and why do you think that is?
Action plan – detailed description of the action plan, based on the criteria you are addressing in the audit. You need to explain and rationalise your decision and detail who is responsible for what.
