Now that you have been exposed to almost all of the course’s content, you have the opportunity to earn extra credit by completing this reflection assignment.
What is it?
Your answer should have an academic tone, but it is a subjective reflection of how:
1) specific reading(s) or 2) topic(s) shaped your perceptions and thoughts. The goals of your reflection is to illustrate your understanding of the material and how it affects your thinking and behavior in both personal and professional situations in the future.
Your reflection will attempt to answer questions, such as: What did I learn from the content?, Where does my knowledge come from? Do I agree/disagree with these ideas/concepts?, How does the information reinforce/challenge my existing ideas or assumptions? What did I learn about myself, organizations, or society? How will this knowledge impact my choices and behaviors? You may choose to consider other questions for reflection – these are suggestions.
What is the format?
You can choose to complete your assignment in any medium of your choice. For example:
If you are an artist, you can paint or draw a piece that represents your reflection and provide in writing the thoughts that guided your art (see questions above for relevant reflection questions).
Maybe you sing and want to song write your reflection. Again, see questions above for guidance.
You can decide you prefer a powerpoint, where you record yourself narrating your reflection. See questions above for guidance.
You are a baker, and want to create a ‘recipe’ from the things you learned or the topic that most resonated with you. Your instructions could be written to address the reflection questions above.
Maybe you want to build a Sway presentation, a blog entry, a newsletter, a brochure, etc.
Or, you can answer in a written traditional format. As a general rule, your answer should be at least one single spaced page (12 pt font). You can use first person to relate the reading(s) or topic(s) to your personal experience.
Remember:
Please provide a clear structure and flow to your answer. Even if you are choosing a creative route for submission, your reflection needs to demonstrate you have fulfilled the goals listed above.
