Implementation of EBP can be challenging enough therefore having knowledge of the current status of local health care systems is important. Understanding where local health care systems stand in policies, procedures, and finances will help to give an overview to determining the barriers and needs of the facility. “Locally, transformational nurse leaders within each hospital can share the vision for implementing EBP and embrace magnet principles” (Warren et al, 2016). When there is better comprehension of the culture and leadership within an organization it allows for strategic planning towards necessary improvement.
Anecdotal evidence that I have gathered regarding modification within the facility seems to focus mainly on financial aspects. Any notion for improvement requires approval from a financial standpoint which places a major barrier on any type EBP implementation. Providing education to staff and patients to raise awareness of PTSD among our veterans may not be an extreme financial burden however it will be taken into consideration when proposing my project for change.
