Imagine you are going to give a presentation to class, by preparing a multi-media slideshow. Select a theory or topic (NOT an entire chapter), describe the theory, why you are interested in it, the history, major psychologists and research performed. Include pictures, info-graphics, and/or YouTube videos along with text information explaining the theory. Then relate it to a personal experience/observation, and describe how your knowledge of the theory or topic will help(influence) you in the future. You can use any topic found in our Psychology 2e online textbook https://openstax.org/details/books/psychology-2e
Please use PowerPoint or Google Slides. To use Google Slides, free here in Canvas – click on Google Drive, then select New on the left corner, scroll down, and select Google Slides. It will open a blank slide page. Note: If you included voice, video clips or notes below each slide, please upload as a .ppt or .pptx file, so I will be able to access them. Can upload as a PDF if there are no slide notes, video or audio features.)
When using Google Slides, click File, Download, then choose the first option Microsoft PowerPoint and it will save the file as a .pptx.
Here is a sample outline of slide pages to include:
Intro slide(s):
You name, course name, date, title of your presentation
What topic did you choose and why is it interesting to you?
What do you hope to learn from researching this topic?
What chapter is it from in Psychology 2e?
Main body (multiple slides):
What is the history of this topic?
Who are the key psychologists involved(if any)?
Describe at least 2 research studies have been published on this topic. You might want to use one early (older) article, and one more recent.
How has this topic been used in popular culture (cartoons, TV shows, movies, art, music, etc.)?
If it’s a disorder, what are the symptoms, origins and treatment options?
*Remember to use citations like (Speilman et al. 10.3) to show on each slide where you learned the information. Because this textbook is online, just use the section number instead of a page number, so 10.3 is chapter 10 and section 3.

Where do you go from here with this new information?
What surprised you about this topic?
How will it help you in the future? Or how can you use it to help others?
Works Cited slide: Use our textbook, and at least one other scholarly source, like a journal article. List both on the Works Cited.

Even though this is a slideshow, you still must use citations throughout your slides (Spielman et al. 10.2) for example, and a Works Cited page listing at least our textbook Psychology 2e, and one other scholarly reference you cited in your paper. Wikipedia and most .com websites are not scholarly. Books and Peer Reviewed Journals are scholarly. You will want to upload your presentation early, wait for the Turn-it-in report to be created, then review to see if you have any plagiarism, or direct quotes that need to be cited correctly or put in your own words. Remember citations are not just for direct quotes, but for anytime you refer to specifics from something you read, especially statistics. Every page should have at least one citation, except for your Summary slide.

There will be several options, I usually use:
PsycARTICLES (EBSCO): Provides full text, peer-reviewed scholarly and scientific articles from journals published by the American Psychological Association and related imprints. Type in any topic from our text and see what comes up. If you have trouble finding a specific journal article email me or contact the librarians (Links to an external site.), they love to help. Our textbook has a section at the back listing every journal article referenced throughout the textbook. Check it out for ideas.
Please note the topic I chose is chapter 10. It is about emotion and motivation.
