Instructions: Imagine that you are the parent of an intellectually disabled child and that their school district is either recommending placement in a special needs classroom or mainstreaming. Mainstreaming means that a school is putting children with special needs into classrooms with their peers who have no disabilities. This is done for most of the day based on their skills. And for about one hour of the day, the special needs child may be studying in a resource room or “self-contained classroom. You are to write a letter to the school requesting one of those options, stating why you want your child put in one of the settings. Describe the pros and cons of each setting, but strongly request one particular choice. Include at least one concept from the chapter to help explain your reasoning. Your letter must be at least one page in length. This assignment must be uploaded as a word document and is worth 25 points. The letter should be in the traditional format of a letter.
