I need a response to this discussion ; Thankfully advancement in technology had made most of our jobs a bit easier. We EHR’s, digital records, care everywhere, and the ability to get lab results electronically. Charting can be excessive and take the focus off of the actual patient sometimes. Even with new technology to make assessments easier, it is still important to use our skills we learned without the use of technology. We have pumps that can be directly programed from the MAR to eliminate the chance of a medication order. Hospital beds have greatly improved to keep patients more comfortable and have more options for bedridden patients. Portable monitors are available now to continue monitoring a patient when they transfer from their unit, or the monitors can be taken to the patient directly when needed. There are often apps associated with each hospital patients can download to have access to their results and communicate with their physician if needed. In Labor and Delivery we now have wireless monitors so the patients are able to ambulate while in labor and not be confined to the bed on wired monitors. Technology continues to advance and hopefully will continue to make nursing easier and more efficient for the nurses as well as for the patients. Bailey, S. (2021, October 26).
