Sarah is a 21-year-old Nursing student who has experienced headaches off and on her whole life but is presenting in your office today because they have become bothersome and increasingly worse over the past 2 months (now unrelieved without medication). Describes her headaches as throbbing, usually in the front and back of her head. They tend to come on with increased stress. Are partially relieved with rest and Excedrin but lately has had one headache a week which doesn’t go away with her typical treatment and last 20+ hours. Nausea and photophobia are positive. Has never been on prescription medication for headaches. Incidentally was involved in a car accident last year with no injury but a CT was performed as a precaution and no intracranial abnormalities exist. Overall she just wants to feel better.
