For this essay, please use Weiler’s Chapter 1 from Country Schoolwomen, referring to the demographic developments in public school (or common schools, as they were known in the 1800s) and the so-called “feminization” of education.  How does the story Weiler tells about women’s place in schools and society in America complicate the picture we have gotten of schooling in this country so far?
In addition to citing Weiler’s chapter (including page number), be sure to cite at least one other source from class.  Your essay should describe at least two similarities and/ or differences between Weiler’s approach and the approach of the additional author whose work you are using.  Your essay should be 2-3 pages long.
