Each student within the group will find one unique, peer-reviewed research study articlerelated to the group topic that will be used to contribute to the presentation. The article must be less than 5 years old and from a scholarly, peer-reviewed source. If you submit the same article as one of your peers in the group, you may be required to re-submit the assignment. Each group member will turn in their assigned article with a 250 – 350 (OK if over 350) words, double-spaced summary of the article. The summary must contain: Correctly formatted APA 7th ed format and reference for the article. One paragraph summary that discusses the research problem, process, and results. One paragraph discusses how this article relates to the topic and how it will help complete the presentation. Refer to the rubric for all requirements including formatting.” To reemphasize some points: The summaries are individual assignments for which you will be evaluated as such. If you have not already done so, you must choose a peer-reviewed research article pertaining to the topic of your group presentation you chose. In other words, each of the students in the same group must pick separate articles that must pertain to the greater topic for that particular group presentation/topic. Just as you would when you complete a project by yourself and have 3 separate articles to use to provide rationale/statistics for your final PowerPoint presentation. Therefore, each final group presentation should have at least 3 articles’ information and references (one per student). Then the sum of the individual parts will be put together for a well-composed final group presentation in which all the students in that group need to participate. The article you pick must also be a peer-reviewed research article from a periodical publication, no Wikipedia, no blogs, StatPearls, opinion articles, or any other non-eligible sources. I suggest you only use the Library and Resources tab in Canvas to perform your searches. There are many useful resources and how-to here. The research article should be based on a study that would have participants, methodology, participants, results, conclusions, etc. sections clearly delineated⦠There are many that are very informational and peer-reviewed but do not meet the article summary criteria. You can still use the info from other articles and sources in your project along with the other summary articles (make sure to reference properly). Conduct the database(s) searches (EBSCO, ProQuest, Medline, Ovid, etc.) using combination keywords from your topic, and follow the other requirements (less than 5 yrs old, peer-reviewed, etc.). This may require some digging to ensure your article contributes to the group’s final presentation with useful information. If you email me the article you feel strongly about I will review it to see if it meets the eligibility criteria. Unapproved articles not meeting criteria will be returned for revision and resubmission and a temporary placeholder of 0 will be entered. I read every article you submit, so make sure your links for retrieval information also work properly. Once resubmitted, the graded paper evaluation score will be indicated. Follow the rubric for this assignment closely to complete per expectations. I cannot stress this point enough! I suggest printing out the instructions and the rubric and have handy when you type up your assignment. I strongly suggest against splitting up the tasks/portions among group members, as this often leads to obvious fragmentation of the presentation. You must have a properly formatted APA 7th ed. style paper with cover page, body, and separate reference page and double-spaced. As an added bonus/assistance to you, I have provided as an attachment an APA 7th edition template for you to use, where you need to add in your information, then save as with your pertinent file name. Pay special attention to how titles and page formatting should look. I am a stickler for completing by the rubric/per expectations, this to include proper APA referencing, intext, and on the reference page. There is info on that main Library page, including a link for the OWL Purdue website which is the only site you should use for APA tips. I am providing a link here for the OWL Purdue (Links to an external site.). Do not use the citation machine there to cite your articles (or any other citation machine, they are inherently incorrect!), use the tab on left to look up proper APA format for citing “Articles from Periodicals.” Using that as a guide, ensure you list appropriately in APA, articles have to follow slightly different rules than books. Please use careful proofreading and spellchecks/grammar software to ensure your paper has a professional/quality feel worthy of this level of your preparation. Consider these assignments a stepping stone for many more student research papers to come as you further your education. Resist the temptation to submit poor-quality work as it will also be graded as such. This is a good portion of your final grade, so please treat it, and your final group project presentations, with the respect they deserve. For solutions, use the articles’ data of what proposed solutions to the problem(s) could be, again, supported by an intext reference from the source after the bullet point info. Then define the problem, in the case of HAI, you could describe (researched) information on the most commonly found reasons why is it a problem, what are the types of HAI most commonly (research) identified with a brief description of each, and what are the causes (you can use multiple slides if you like), one for each (ex. C-diff, MRSA, VRE, etc.) Then how is this linked to the broader issue in healthcare such as (off the top of my head…in your particular case should have this supported by data from the research articles and/or items AHRQ, QSEN, Patient Safety Goals, TJC, ANA, etc.): decreased patient outcomes, extended length of stay in the hospital, decreased patient/family satisfaction surveys, decreased or no reimbursements for services from CMS/Insurance COs, etc. Also supported by information in the articles you can then provide the background information on HAIs what is the root cause of HAIs. Then, recommended plan, the process for improvement, or solution based on evidence from articles or in evidence. Link to concepts learned in class and possible solutions with rationales, also based/supported by evidence such as strict handwashing, Q2 hours oral care and HOB up 30 degrees on ventilated patients, etc. Summarize expected outcomes from your recommendations. Discuss how these outcomes will be measured
