Because the timing of when individuals achieve adulthood in many industrialized counties, such as the United States, has become so delayed a new transitional period called emerging adulthood may be developing. What do you believe to be one (1) advantage and one (1) disadvantage for individuals experiencing this transitional period between adolescence and adulthood? In your response, be sure to clearly indicate the advantage and disadvantage.
Unlike cultures described in Lecture 1 that have a clear-cut demarcation between adolescence and adulthood through a coming-of-age ceremony, the United States does not have an established formal ceremony or rite of passage marking entrance into adulthood. Given this, how does an individual in our culture know when he/she is functioning as an adult, fully accepting both the rights and responsibilities of adulthood?
