Application: Ethical and Multicultural Self-Assessment
As you learned last week, self-assessment is a method commonly used to evaluate one’s knowledge, skills, and attitudes on professional competencies. By assessing your knowledge, skills, and attitudes specific to ethical and cultural competency, you are able to identify any personal limitations that may create challenges in your professional practice. As a professional psychology practitioner, it is likely you will encounter individuals from diverse backgrounds. Having a firm understanding of your limitations allows you to develop a plan to improve your ethical and cultural competency.
The assignment:
Explain the importance of ethical and multicultural competency to the practice of professional psychology.
Identify and explain personal limitations you realized as a result of the Quality and Culture Quiz provided in this week’s Learning Resources.
Formulate steps you will take to address these limitations to become more ethically and multiculturally competent.
Support your Application Assignment with specific references to all resources used in its preparation. You are asked to provide a reference list for all resources, including those in the Learning Resources for this course.
