Each student will write a scholarly paper on a psychological disorder covered in this course and relevant to performance psychology. The paper is to be written in APA format delineated in the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (6th ed.) and shall be no less than 10 pages (not including title/reference page) with 6 scholarly references (excluding textbook and course readings). Note that scholarly references DO NOT include Wikipedia or layman websites. Utilize academic databases such as Psych Info or PubMed to locate resources. The paper should be organized around the review of a psychological disorder and its relevance to performance. The review should cover: current theories of etiology, current empirical research on treatment, and relevance to performance. “Current” generally means within the past five years. See grading rubric for point breakdown. Example: Anorexia Nervosa – review etiology, theories guiding treatment, relevant research related in the athlete population, and issues/impact on one’ athletic performance.
