Respond to Shelby’s Post: An employee benefit plan is a valued tool when job searching. A lot of employees want to make sure that not only would they enjoy their position, but what incentives or benefits are available to them. This can sometimes make or break taking a job for some people. This is why including components of a company benefit package in a job posting will attract more potential applicants. For example, by offering advantages like discounts, health plans, tuition assistance, and retirement funds, the company motivates these individuals to look forward to working for them. By offering these benefits, a company can also portray their mission and values. The benefits plan should present the company’s mission, adopted values, beliefs, and objectives. Like if there are many incentives available, the company can attribute this to their sense of giving back to the community in a sense.
A way to evaluate a desired benefits plan is through an employee needs assessment. This needs assessment conducted will determine the best benefits selection and design based on the needs and wants of the employees. This can give the current employees as well as the future employees a voice when it comes to their workforce. It is most important to keep in mind that not all employees’ recommendations for benefits will be included. This can be the case when there is a diverse group of employees. Younger employees may want more educational and training materials available, while the older generation may want more options for retirement plans. No matter the case, providing clear communication with staff about the future of their benefits plan will provide a high level of understanding of the benefits offered.
