The final paper is a scientific review paper (a research paper using primarily peer-reviewed scientific articles as sources) on a topic of your choosing that is relevant to adolescent and/or early adult development. The papers should be typed, at least 5 pages of written content with 1-inch margins, double-spaced, and use Arial size 11 font. For your paper you should choose a behavior that interests you and describe the biological, social, and cultural aspects that influence that behavior during the adolescent and/or early adult period. For example, if you would like to write your paper on drug use, you should describe the biological factors that are relevant during adolescence as well as the social and cultural influences of drug use at this time. You will need to cite peer-reviewed research papers to support your claims and your citations and reference section should use APA style. For guidance on how to write a scientific review paper, please see refer to the SDSU Writing Center article entitled “Writing a Scientific Review.” (Links to an external site.) The reference section does not count towards your page count. These papers are to be submitted via Turnitin on Canvas by July 1 at 11:59pm PST. Papers will NOT be accepted after this date.
