a.   Select six (6) scholarly, peer-reviewed research articles presenting empirical studies from any discipline and any topic. For each study, identify and critique the study’s research approach and methodology regarding the following points:
1.   Choice of general study orientation (quantitative or qualitative);
2.   Sampling technique [random, stratified, etc.] – critiquing potential sampling biases (e.g., sampling by convenience);
3.   Sample characteristics (race, sex, socioeconomic status, location of the United States, etc.) – critiquing potential biases, heterogeneity of sample;
4.   Choice of research design strategy (e.g., cross-sectional design) – critiquing potential confounds/problems/limitations;
5.   Process of instrument development and/or assessment technique and the administration of testing- critiquing pilot testing process, potential experimenter bias (demand characteristics), etc.;
6.   Data analysis and interpretation – critiquing assumptions in internal, external (generalizability), construct, and ecological validities during data analyzed in the study; and
7.   Any other points you feel should be analyzed in the study.
