The Mood disorder questionnaire (MDQ) was developed by Dr Robert M.A. Hirschfeld and a group of psychiatrists, researchers and patient advocates in 2000. It is simple and involves reporting against 15 items. Items on the MDQ are derived from the DSM-IV criteria and experience as a clinician (Hirschfeld, 2000).
