1 & 2: Quantitative & Qualitative Critiques (20% each)
The student is required to choose a topic of interest. The topic is open to the student and can range from a clinical question or issue, nursing professional issues, economic issue affecting nursing, social issue, political issue, current âhot topicâ from the media with relation to health care, or an identified health disparity. The goal of these two critiques is to synthesize the information provided by the researchers into a concise format highlighting its most salient points.
**Each critique should be only 4 paragraphs, with 4-6 sentences per paragraph**
Quantitative critique:
Select a current article in nursing literature with quantitative methodology. Each paragraph should address the following:
Paragraph 1: What was the issue or problem explored by the researchers?
Paragraph 2: What specific quantitative method did the researchers employ to explore the issue or problem?
Paragraph 3: Briefly describe what the findings of the research were
Paragraph 4: What do these findings mean for nursing? Or where do we, as nurses, take this new knowledge? Or how did these findings resonate with you as a registered professional nurse?
