Case Study : Contagious Traveler
An American health care provider living in Saudi Arabia traveled back to the US. The man flew from Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, to London, England, and then to Chicago, Illinois. The man then took a bus from Chicago to Indiana. Three days later, he developed a fever, cough, and shortness of breath. The next day, he was admitted to a community hospital in Munster, Indiana and placed in isolation. He was diagnosed with the first confirmed case of the deadly MERS virus in the United States. The CDC became involved to contact all those who were exposed to this man before his diagnosis was known.
