During NSG557, you will choose one item to focus on throughout NSG557 from the Patient Satisfaction Survey of your organization. Refer to my Welcome Video for an overview*
**** All assignments in 557 are focused on making a change to improve the patient responses to your chosen Survey question. Based on your organization’s data, or a healthcare organization of your choice, review the data and dashboards for your chosen Patient Satisfaction Quality Improvement opportunity. How are the scores? What problems do you see? What item appeals to you to present throughout 557 ?

If you are analyzing a hospital-based system, review the Hospital Consumer Assessment of Healthcare Providers and Systems (HCAHPS) scores.
If you are considering info in a health care organization that is not a hospital, such as a School or Clinic System, review the metrics/ data within that organization, as well as another agency’s information used to provide information to the public(as a comparison).
If you are not working at an organization which collects clinical data, use the following website/s to choose a facility and use their data (its public info):

Write a 700-word summary that analyzes the laws, regulations, policies, and procedures that may affect the Patient Satisfaction Survey (PSS) TOPIC you have chosen. See suggestions in CONVERSATIONS (access via upper right, purple dot)
Use our textbook (Marquis & Huston, required) for important info to include.
(1) Begin by stating the Pt Satisfaction Survey item you will focus on during 557 (25). State the exact language of the question to which patients respond*
Examples include such issues as:
-Responsiveness of Staff
-Communication with RN /nsg staff members
-Communication regarding medications
-Clarity of discharge information / aftercare
-Quietness of hospital environment during nighttime hours

To make a change to improve scores, Hourly Rounding was instituted… let’s discuss examples in CONVERSATIONs room (on this screen, look to upper right, circles, with purple dot… click on that and enter CONVERSATIONs….) Lots of interesting topics to choose from. Also check the library to assure you have articles in nursing journals for a chosen topic, which are REQUIRED for written assignments.
