Nursing Theory and Research Discussion
Instructions
First, select one of the conceptual models or theories discussed in the readings and/or video lectures. I encourage you to find a theory/conceptual model that appeals to you. Using the selected theory/model, find one published research study underpinned by that theory. Your discussion posting should address the following:
Provide a descriiption of your selected theory/conceptual model and why you chose it.
Include a one- to two-paragraph summary of the study you chose that was based on the selected theory/conceptual model. This summary should be written in your own words rather than being a rewording of the abstract or portions of the study article. It takes great skill to be able to succinctly describe a research study in your own words. This is your chance to practice this skill.
How did the researchers use your chosen theory/conceptual model to frame their research study?
What limitations did you note in the Discussion/Conclusion section of your article? Do you think that those limitations detract from this study’s usefulness in evidence-based practice?
Next, respond to two peers’ posts. In your responses, find data from your own study that correlates to the conclusions made by your peers, taking specific note of point 4 above.
Post the relevant data in your responses to your peers, suggesting why it correlates and the importance of this finding.

Discussion Guidelines and Rubric
Your discussion needs to be substantive in the response by:
Adhering to formal, third-person, APA style. No title page or abstract is required.
Including at least two scholarly references to support your views.One reference will be your cited article, and the other reference is one you will select in building your response.
Using correct APA style for both in-text and reference list citations. However, double-spacing and hanging indentations are not required for the forum post, since Moodle does not support this type of formatting.
Being at least 500 words in length for the entire initial post (which includes words contained in the reference section).

Focus
This example quantitative study used the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) to develop and test the study’s research hypotheses. Additionally, the TPB guided the formation of the study instrument/data collection.
