This is a Scientific Journal Article Critique.
_ Find a scientific journal article about the topic
_ Find a scientific (peer-reviewed) journal article that is no more than 10 years old. The article must contain original research.
_ SOURCE

 must come from professional, scientific journals.
 must be a research article (MUST HAVE SECTIONS LABELED “METHODS”, “RESULTS” &
“DISCUSSION”)
_ FORMAT
 You must use APA format. APA format requirements include a cover page, reference page, in-text citations, etc.
_ Intro paragraph, main body, and conclusion.
1. Introduction (PURPOSE: to educate the reader on the topic/concept) Must be written in 3rd person.
#Define your topic
#What are symptoms, statistics of occurrence, and/or current information in the field related
to your topic?
2. Main body (PURPOSE: to explain the research conducted in the article: what, who, when, where, how) Must be written in 3rd person.
#What were the researchers trying to discover? What was their hypothesis?
#Who were the participants/subjects? (Number of participants, Age, Gender/Sex, Criteria met in order to be part of the study)
#When and where was the research completed?
#How long did the research take?
#How was the research conducted? (methodology – survey, experiment, observation, etc)
#What did the researchers find? What was their results?
3. Summary/conclusion (PURPOSE: to show critical thinking in regards to the research) Must be written in 1st person and contain your opinion.
#What is your opinion about the research? Was it done well or not? Why?
#Why is this research important? What relevance does this research have for society?
#What are your thoughts about how to better this research in the future?
#How does this topic/research relate to your own personal experience/opinion?
#How has your opinion changed since reading/learning about this research?

 Double space
 DO NOT add extra spaces between paragraphs (simply indent)
 12 pt font of Times New Roman or Arial
 Blank ink throughout
 NO paragraph or section headings!
 Cover page before paper
 Reference page after paper
