Continue to focus on the same outbreak example from your last assignment. This week you will learn about the when and where (when its occurring? Where its occurring?) of an outbreak investigation.
A line list includes age, status, possible exposure, exposure date, onset date, symptoms, and laboratory results. Create one line list of no more than ten cases you identified in last weekâs assignment. Focus on dates with the most exposures within the last five years (2015-2020). Please navigate to the files section to view an example of a line list.
Note: If you canât find the information you need to complete your line list, please refer to the CDCâs Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Reports (Links to an external site.) for information. You can search through the volumes, Google your topic, or use the CDCâs search tool (top right corner). If you come across a report with a range of ages (i.e.,15 â 25) instead of exact ages, just assign an age to each case.
Use the line list to make an epidemic curve then explain its purpose. Please navigate to the files section to view an example.
Explain how a map also provides critical information about disease spread.
