From the lecture, you noticed 5 elements of a risk management plan — planning, identification, analysis, mitigation, and monitoring/control. For this assignment, I would like you to walk around a location that provides health care. From this, you will put together a comprehensive risk management assignment. You should include the following concepts and components: – Planning: provide a detailed description of the location you looked at. Then describe in detail your overall risk plan (how did you look for risk, who did you talk to/interview, what other detail did you put into your plan). – Identification: discuss the risks you identified in detail. You can either mention them individually or by theme/location/affected group (“employee safety”, “data integrity”, “nurses”, etc). Provide some context around what those risks are and specifically how they affect the organization and the patients/employees/management (and so on) within it. – Analyzing: describe how important these risks are to the organization. You can use likelihood/impact/timing variables (and you will certainly get high marks if you create a color-coded chart), FMEA analysis pieces, or some combination to best determine the importance. – Mitigating: provide a detailed plan to mitigate/fix these risks. Each risk should not only be analyzed but a strong plan to account for them should be included. Feel free to be creative and use whatever means are feasible to take care of the risks. – Monitoring/control: provide a summary of who will be responsible to monitor risk progress, the overall process, and any future control components. Please try to identify 3-5 potential risks for discussion in the plan, and provide SPECIFIC detail.
