Using lecture and reading material, please detail your understanding of how relational harmony and intrapersonal harmony may be in conflict in a therapy session when working with a family or couple. Write up a brief clinical case example to illustrate and include a mock genogram in the case example. For your case example, please use material that relates to either military or responder culture. For example, a case example might center around a police officer attempting to create relational harmony by not bringing work home with him and saying he’s fine, yet he may be struggling internally with a great deal of distress that he ends up avoiding. Make sure to discuss the impact relational vs. intrapersonal conflict may have on the individual, the relationship, and on the therapeutic relationship, both for provider and client.
