Nursing practice continues to save lives in the pandemic and nursing research, including policy implications, plays a critical role. Nurse researchers are working to understand the experiences of nurses practicing in under?resourced hospitals and nursing homes in order to advance more supportive work environments to save patient lives and promote recovery. For example, they are investigating how individuals sheltering at home are managing diets that affect their chronic conditions and whether in-home nursing care is able to promote wellness and decrease social isolation. Additionally, these efforts are uncovering lessons from the past that have significant policy implications for the future. (Links to objectives 3, 5). Discussion Question: Identify one COVID-19 policy implication based upon your professional experiences, educational endeavors, or community based outcomes (nursing home outbreaks, etc.). Discuss how DNP’s can advocate and become active in policy reform, networking, and educating co-workers.
