4. POWERPOINT PRESENTATION Making an effective presentation is an important skill for a leader. Each student will create a presentation that will focus on a topic from the list provided by faculty. Emphasis should be on the role of the nurse as a leader. Students are required to submit the presentation using VoiceThreads. 1. To teach us something new 2. To persuade us to make a change 3. To share important information for us to function effectively as professional nurses PowerPoint Presentation Guidelines: ⢠Create a list of at least 3 learning outcomes for the presentation. These need to be behavior based (use verbs) and measurable. See resource provided for writing objectives. ⢠Create a PowerPoint (PP) presentation. Your PP needs to include all the components listed below and will be graded according to the grading rubric at the end of this syllabus. Be sure to read and attend to the requirements in order to qualify for all the points available. ⢠Each presentation should last approximately 15 – 20 minutes. Time yourself to ensure you have met this requirement before completing the final presentation. ⢠The presentation will be graded with Content 50%, Elocution 30%, and Research 20%. Be sure to be attentive to all the elements on the rubric. (This means an interview and research are required for full points!) ⢠Remember to relate the topic to the role of the nurse leader (i.e. Ethical issues that a nurse manager may have to deal with). ⢠Be sure to check that you have all the required elements (i.e., interview, research article, learning activity). ⢠Be creative and have fun! The Components are listed below followed by the topics and the grading rubric: Content 50% ⢠Learning outcomes/Objectives ⢠Reflects critical thinking, creative, insightful consideration of topic ⢠Presentation incorporates an interview with a nurse regarding the topic ⢠Personal perspective regarding the topic ⢠Interview a nurse leader on the topic selected. ⢠Discuss the interview in the presentation. ⢠Summary of presentation at the end of the presentation ⢠Learning activity or hyperlink related to topic Mechanics 30% ⢠Embeds voice, pronunciation and speech clear, good speed and tone ⢠Grammar, spelling correct ⢠Audiovisuals creative Research: 20% ⢠Uses a minimum of 4 resources, from varied and scholarly sources ⢠Cites sources on individual slides ⢠Reference sources within the individual slides. Full references on slide at end of presentation using correct APA format ⢠Incorporates one primary research study and incorporates it into presentation ⢠Reference sources within the individual slides. (See tips for scholarly resources). ⢠Include references on the slides. The last slide should include a complete reference list using APA format.
