1.    SUICIDE ASSESSMENT PODCAST REVIEW – Each student will be asked to listen to a podcast presentation this semester. The podcast, available through iTunes free of charge, is a wonderful way to expose you to current, innovative interventions and topics within your field.  The podcast for this assignment is ACA Podcast Series: Suicide Assessment: Sharpen Your Clinical Skills, with Dr. Jason McGlothlin.  Please be certain your reflection includes the following:
a)    Outline the SIMPLE STEPS model discussed in the podcast
b)    How would you compare and contrast the SIMPLE STEPS model to the more traditional model of trauma prevention?
c)    Please tie in a reflection of previous experiences you may have had in this regard.
d)    The SIMPLE STEPS model encourages counselors to look at several aspects of a client’s history in determining possible suicide lethality.  Be certain to incorporate these components when critically evaluating the value of this model in your current and future professional counseling endeavors.
