Marian Wright Edelman, Founder and President Emerita of the Children’s Defense Fund (Links to an external site.), has been a leading advocate of children’s rights. The Children’s Defense Fund has reported on indicators that place the United States at or near the bottom of industrialized nations in the social neglect of children. Edelman advocates for better health care, safer schools and neighborhoods, parent education, and family support systems.
