1. In my opinion, the medical community needs to limit inappropriate use of prescription opioids, reduce the flow of illicit opioids like heroin, help people seek treatment who are misusing opioids, and make sure people understand the risks of death, illness. or injury of misusing opioids.

The next steps include: prescription drug monitoring programs, state prescription drug laws, manage strategies in insurance programs such as prior authorization, qualinity limits, and drug utilization reviews, education providers about opioid prescribing guidelines and explain the risks and benefits of pain treatment options with patients, improvement programs in health care systems to increase recommended prescribing practices, safe storage and disposal of prescription medications for patients, and improvement of awareness and cost of opioid overdose for patients and their families.
3. I believe that with the help of the doctors, the drug companies are to be held the most responsible. They prescribe faulty prescription methods and inadequate addiction education.

A “pill mill” is an illegal facility that resembles a regular pain clinic that regular prescribes painkillers without sufficient medical history, physical examination, diagnosis, medical monitoring, or documentation of the patient. “Pill mills” increase the number of suicides and drug-related suicides. “Pill mills” are hard to stop because the owners and physicians can make thousands of dollars a day and can afford expensive defense attorneys.
5. What surprised me most about this documentary was that some physicians care more about the money, than about their own patients. I have dealt with this first hand. When I first hurt my left ankle last year I was prescribed Norco (Hydrocodone). It made me extremely ill so I made sure that from then on, I would have it on my drug allergy list. I recently just had a fourth surgery and when I was told what I was prescribed for the pain, the nurse said the doctor prescribed me Norco. I was extremely thankful that the doctor that prescribed me the medication wasn’t the doctor doing my surgery, it was the attending so I got the prescription changed. It is a very sad realization that patients have to search for a good doctor that isn’t in it for the money but is in it for the want and need to help others.
