What I need is presentation and poster about Medical Device Related Pressure Injury with with patients with spinal cord injury. I am expecting the presentation to be similar in form to presentation I have done about CAUTI some time ago. ( I attached a file)

My expectations:
1.Background: 5 articles. use them all, Plus some pictures: like statistics, ( at lest 10 sentences.)
2. show examples of Medical Devices and Related Pressure Injury with description and pictures. (On 4-5 slides describe and show pictures of Medical Devices and Related Pressure Injury caused by: Statlock Foley Stabilization Device, foley catheter, suction connecting tube, penile pouch, suction devices, Nasogastric tube, Gtube, external catheters, neck brace, oxygen tubing, cpap/bipap, tracheostomy tie, PICC lines.
3. Define Medical Devices and Related Pressure Injury and explain ( different pictures here help ) how to look for injury (use this example: “do assessment: inspection every shift”).

“medical team should check as any device we currently use that is medically provided for daily care or living that can or has caused damage to the skin. Next if it is in direct contact with the skin for more than 2 hours, patients skin should be checked every 8 hours for first 48 hours for redness.Then we check daily where it makes contact on the skin. ”

–> follow up depending on what is found: Example is if the patient gets a new chair or cushion it is every 8 hours even if they are not new to being in a wheel chair. The device is new. All devices we know that are in contact with skin for medical or living should be listed in in VAEES skin note and we can add and subtract as necessary. This would be known things: Wheelchair, Foley, Condom cath, trach, Braces, the Stylists strapped to hands, etc.
–> The other thing which happens is things like IV tubing. everyone who is getting IV would need that listed unless it caused damage. That would fall under make sure you patient is not sitting on something. Like their charger, caps, phones, etc.

4. When we talk about the devices we should talk about how these are not stageable injuries. DESCRIBE NON stageable injuries. and show example (pictures and description)
5. Then moving on to when we need to emphases “look and assess”: (use citation just in different words:) Any device either directly against skin or presses on skin (even though something) should be the only things considered. We should assess them every shift unit policy, hospital policy is daily.
6. documentation: talk about documentation here. Its every shift we check because every RN will chart it however there is no reason a LPN cant also chart devices. That’s not a assessment. They just need to be listed. (so all the medical team members supposed to check of new injuries, and then notify a nurse about it. then RN nurse can do assessment.
7. write about Changes:
describe what needs to be changed on the unit. use these examples, and find more in articles.
–> dating devices. If it’s a tube it not hard to put tape or date sticker like tubing for when it was put on. Also we could alternatively add dating to the charting. Every time list something we write last date of change.Also if we are changing the weekly audited we can show them in this section and see if they have anything to add here.
