There are a number of different lie detection technologies being developed. For example, there are lie detection technologies based on brain scanning, eye movement, linguistic analysis, and facial temperature.
It is plausible that, in the future, a near-perfect lie detector will be developed. If we had access to near-perfect lie detectors, it would have the potential to transform society.
Imagine we are in the future and a near-perfect lie detector has been invented. This lie detector correctly detects lies 99.9% of the time. The lie detector is not expensive and can only be used voluntarily.
