The project aims to identify experiences of stressors and coping strategies among long-term care support workers in the UK. Also, to conduct semi-structured interviews with UK-based support workers to explore the main stressors they experience in work, the coping strategies they adopt, and how effective they are. The study will have two objectives. First, the study will examine the perceptions of support workers regarding the stress associated with work and daily tasks. Secondly, it examines the coping strategies and resources they use to cope with challenges.
The researcher will interview 10 long-term care support workers in the UK. The data collected will include lived experiences and perceptions of stressors and coping strategies faced by care support workers. Support workers will take part in the 45â60-minute interview which will be recorded for transcription purposes.
The data will be analysed to identify experiences of stressors and coping strategies using thematic analysis (Braun & Clarke, 2006). The thematic analysis involves identifying, analysing, and reporting patterns (themes) within data.
